It's my opinion that Adobe is making a mistake renaming Flex Builder to Flash Builder. Simply put, when it comes to business applications, businesses still don't want to buy a Flash solution. Adobe should catch this wave created by the Flex craze and call it just that, Flex.
I agree. Having worked in a few large companies, Flash has always been seen as an animation tool, not and application development environment. To change perception, you sometimes need to change the name.

Agreed, I'm in a large enterprise and when they hear Flash Builder - they cringe. Plus, What's called what? Is the IDE called Flash and the SDK called Flex? Talk about confusion.
Bad Move, Adobe.

Seems like a moot point. A) its happening already and B) what runtime do you tell your clients to install or upgrade to? Flex runtime? So you have to fess up to them sometimes.
Personally, I think most Flex dev's get bent out of shape because they've spent so much time charging more being "Flex Developer" that they are afraid being a "Flash Developer" will lower than standards.
I've only rare use the Flex framework but spent 99.9% of my time working in ActionScript.

Flex is a Framework for the Flash Platform, it gives you tags around Actionscript and a complier to generate a Flash SWF.
So Having Flash as the Designer IDE / Flash Builder as the Developer IDE / Cataylst as the Graphic Designer IDE / Bridge should all be fun ;)
Renaming to Flash Builder is more of a consolidation and clarification about the tools for the developers. Flex is still the name of the framework, so you can still go and market your stuff and call it Flex, but Flex Builder doesn't have to just develop with Flex - hence the name change (as I'm sure you already knew!)
If the name of the development tool really matters, just refer to the Flex framework, or throw some additional words on top of Flash - keep calling it 'Flash Platform' or something.

I agree, I really don't see the net effect of the name change being a positive thing but rather just introducing more confusion. End users and developers tend to refer to any common technologies by a short name - like an acronym (e.g. AJAX) or abbreviated form (e.g. "Flex" vs "Flex Builder"). In the future when people write or speak about a "Flash based app", was it built using Flash Builder? Flash Catalyst? Flash Professional? If someone has a "Flash 3D API", which tooling is it intended for? On the other hand if it's a "Flex 3D API" it is quite clear which tooling the API is targeted for. I'm just glad Adobe marketing does not develop communication protocols for something like air traffic control...

So you're saying there are businesses that will build Flex applications because it's called Flex, which they would otherwise ignore if it would be called Flash? This is the most idiotic thing I've heard from the so called 'enterprise' community so far and I'm ashamed that I have to share the Flash Platform ecosystem with such people. Flex is a framework for Actionscript which is a programming language used in the Flash Player, deal with it. It's like saying I love Big Macs but I hate McDonalds.
